CSH#NO
A rare gem in a not-so-fictional location. CSH#NO is a true sanctuary in the heart of the forest, set beside a quiet pond. Created as practice piece for something else coming soon.

Pavilions on the water
Four low roofs step along the edge of the pond, close enough that the water carries them back in full. From the drive the house reads as a single silhouette under the canopy.

Arriving through the trees
The drive bends before it reveals anything. Trunks screen the elevation until the last turn, so the house is met all at once rather than studied from a distance.

Glass held between trees
Full-height openings run the length of the living wing, so the forest floor continues past the threshold. Timber, stone and steel are left to age at their own speed.

One space, many corners
Living, cooking and reading share a single volume, divided only by furniture and the position of the light. Nothing is closed off, and nothing is on display.

Where the roof lets go
Deep eaves hold the line between shelter and clearing. In rain the edge becomes the loudest part of the house; in summer it is simply another room.

Joints left visible
Fixings, reveals and end grain are shown rather than hidden. The construction is the ornament, which keeps the surfaces quiet enough for the forest to matter more.

Nothing was flattened
The slabs follow the fall of the land instead of correcting it, so each pavilion sits at its own height and the undergrowth runs right up to the stone.

Warm rooms in a cold wood
At night the glass inverts. The forest disappears, the lit interiors float above the ground, and the pond keeps a second, softer version of the house.

The night held twice
Under a clear sky the pavilions settle into the dark, their warm interiors mirrored in the pond. Rooflines, stars and reflections meet until the house seems suspended between two skies.
